High Tide Puzzles ("we," "us," or "our") operates this website (the "Site"), which offers free daily puzzles. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you use the Site, how it's used, and the choices you have. The short version: there are no accounts, ads, analytics or cookies of our own, and your puzzle progress stays on your device.
Information We Collect
1) Information Stored on Your Device
To make the puzzles work, the Site saves a small amount of information in your browser's local storage, such as:
- Your progress and time on each day's puzzles
- Your streaks and best times
- Your light or dark mode choice
- Which puzzles you've already seen the "How to play" guide for
Note: This information never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Progress from past days is cleared automatically, and you can remove all of it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
2) Information You Send Us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
3) Information Handled by Our Service Providers
Like any website, loading the Site involves services that receive basic technical information from your browser:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the Site, processes information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the Site, keep it secure and monitor its performance.
- Google Fonts, which supplies the Site's fonts, receives your IP address and browser information when the fonts load.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Run the puzzles and remember your progress on your device
- Reply to your emails
- Keep the Site working, secure and fast, and fix problems
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We don't set cookies, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Local storage (described above) is used only to make the puzzles work. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary cookies to protect the Site from abuse.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances:
Service Providers:
The providers described above (Cloudflare for hosting and Google Fonts for fonts) process information on our behalf to run the Site.
Legal and Safety:
If required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, and property, or the rights, safety, and property of others.
Business Transfers:
If the Site is sold or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Data Retention
Information in your browser's local storage stays on your device until it's cleared automatically or you clear it yourself. Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond to you or meet legal obligations. Information handled by our service providers is kept according to their own retention policies.
Security
The Site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we use reasonable measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights such as:
- Requesting access to or deletion of personal information you sent us
- Requesting correction of inaccurate personal information
- Removing everything the Site stored on your device by clearing your browser's site data
